Jazz need Donovan Mitchell to have even bigger breakout season

Donovan Mitchell has had an impressive rookie season with the Utah Jazz, but he still has room for improvement. He is the only player in NBA history to average at least 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game as a rookie.

The when will donovan mitchell return is a question that many Jazz fans are asking. Donovan Mitchell has had an amazing rookie season, but he needs to have a bigger breakout season in order for the Jazz to be successful.

I’ll go right to the point: the Utah Jazz need a breakthrough season from Donovan Mitchell in order to advance far in the playoffs this season. Yes, he had a fantastic season last year (his greatest ever), but he’s still capable of hitting even greater heights, which is why he should be the best Jazz player this year. Mitchell averaged 26.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 5.2 assists last season, but he has to work on his defense.

There aren’t many guys Mitchell’s age who are already built to be good defenders. It takes time and patience to become a lockdown defender, but Spida must practice. When I say defense, I’m referring to his efforts to prevent backdoor cutters, switching on screens, and other common on-ball rotations that would benefit the Jazz on both sides of the ball.

Last season, the Jazz were the strongest team in the Western Conference, but they fell short against a weakened Los Angeles Clippers squad, despite having many opportunities to win the series. It’s true that pressure may have gotten to them, but that’s just half of the story. It’s uncommon to see a player triumph in the NBA Finals, Semi-finals, or even the NBA Playoffs on their first try. Mitchell will be able to utilize this experience to enhance his confidence in the playoffs now that he has it.

Utah will undoubtedly be a top, if not the best, team in the Western Conference if Mitchell has an MVP-caliber season. The Jazz have shown that they can win in the regular season, but it is in the playoffs that they will be judged. Mitchell was only a sprain away from accomplishing his goal. Now that he’s rested and healed, the onus is on him to lead this club back to the postseason.

The Jazz will have a difficult challenge if they want to lead the Western Conference once again. The Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Clippers, Phoenix Suns, and even the Dallas Mavericks have stocked up and can compete in the conference. Utah has to start the season the same way they finished last year, with a bang. Mitchell must be the best player on the court and lead the offense every game for them to succeed.

It’s also worth noting that Mitchell will almost certainly face defensive coverages from opponents he hasn’t seen before. As a result, a lot of his success will be determined by the performance of his teammates, particularly Rudy Gobert, Jordan Clarkson, Mike Conley, and Rudy Gay, the team’s summer acquisition. These guys are capable of supporting Mitchell and diverting the defense’s focus away from him. If any of the guys listed above have another breakthrough season (which is quite conceivable), Mitchell’s workload will be reduced, and he may even be able to flourish on offense.

Mitchell’s ability to raise the Utah Jazz’s ceiling this season will be determined by him, and the greatest issue is whether he is capable of doing so. He showed he can do it last season, but the stakes and difficulty are higher this time.

Jazz need Donovan Mitchell to have even bigger breakout season. This is because the Jazz are not making the playoffs this year and they need him to step up his game in order to make it into the postseason. Reference: how long has donovan mitchell been in the nba.
